The Rooftop Expansion Project has several purposes with the first being our Lodge’s need to accommodate it’s growing membership. Currently, Summit Elks Lodge No. 1246 is the fastest growing Elks Lodge in the United States and boasts of nearly 1,700 Members.
The other purpose of our Rooftop Expansion Project is that it not only allows our Lodge to better meet its ongoing commitment towards Elk charities but, will also help those charitable functions hosted in our Lodge’s Ballroom by various Summit Area Community organizations.
Besides the Summit Elks Lodge’s sponsored charitable functions for disabled children at Camp Moore, various drug prevention programs, and work with our veterans our Lodge’s Ballroom continues to host numerous Summit Community organization’s charitable functions.
Community organizations who have recently used our Lodge’s Ballroom range from The Summit Educational Foundation ( SEF ), American Legion, Summit Police Benevolent and Fire Fighters Associations, Summit Democratic AND Republican Parties, Summit Lacrosse Club, Summit Junior Baseball, Summit YMCA, and Summit Lions Club just to name some of these organizations. Also, our Lodge’s Ballroom has hosted various area high school reunions, numerous First Communion and Bar Mitzvah parties, along with wakes.
Finally, during Hurricane Sandy our Lodge served as an Aid Station for the Summit Area as power was being restored in its aftermath.
In order to meet the increased demands placed upon our current facility by our growing membership, our Lodge may be forced to cut back our Lodge’s availability to the Summit Area Community, if we don’t expand our facility. However, with the generosity of our Elks Members and area residents we at Summit Elks Lodge 1246 are confident that we will be able to better serve both our Members and community upon the completion of this Project.
